Base Salary

$218k - $401k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Establish architectural standards, strategic principles, reusable design frameworks, and governance practices for highly available federal platforms.
  • Design and secure cloud architectures capable of achieving FedRAMP High and DoD IL5 authorizations.
  • Translate NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-37, DoD Cloud Computing SRG, and FIPS requirements into scalable cloud architectures.
  • Drive end-to-end compliance and security architecture accountability, including continuous monitoring and remediation of structural gaps.
  • Author architecture specifications, System Security Plans, and portfolio strategy documents for executive, technical, and regulatory audiences.
  • Conduct architecture and code reviews, lead root-cause analyses, monitor service health, and address operational friction and technical debt.
  • Partner with Product Management on long-range planning, release trajectories, delivery feedback loops, and engineering backlogs.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison to 3PAOs, sponsoring agencies, Authorizing Officials, and DoD authorization stakeholders.
  • Advise executive and customer leadership on architectural choices and communicate complex technical and security concepts effectively.
  • Coach and mentor architects and engineering leaders in business acumen, communication, and systemic problem-solving.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in security architecture, cloud engineering, or systems design.
  • 5+ years leading major federal compliance initiatives involving FedRAMP Moderate/High or DoD IL5.
  • Proven experience operating as a Principal Architect and driving cross-organizational technical strategy and multi-year roadmaps.
  • Deep expertise in NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-37 RMF, FIPS 140-2/140-3, and the DoD Cloud Computing SRG.
  • Hands-on experience designing and securing architectures in AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or equivalent federal environments.
  • Direct experience leading 3PAO assessments, agency sponsorship, and FedRAMP PMO or DoD AO authorization cycles.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to C-level executives and federal officials.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CISM are preferred.
  • An active or eligible U.S. federal security clearance, Secret or Top Secret, is preferred.

  • The annual base salary range is $218,400-$365,200, or $263,200-$401,400 in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan-area locations; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded from these ranges.
