Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic firmware and specifications for brushless DC motor controls, lithium-ion battery-management systems, and battery chargers.
  • Implement and validate electronic designs through software development, testing, and simulation.
  • Develop software verification and validation procedures using unit and integration tests.
  • Provide technical leadership toward cost, performance, and quality objectives for electronic systems, components, and subassemblies.
  • Develop solutions for electronic-system issues, debug systems, maintain documentation, and translate customer requirements into software specifications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and provide technical direction to overseas electronic contract manufacturers to obtain quality electronics assemblies.
  • Travel as needed and manage multiple concurrent objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college.
  • Knowledge of developing embedded 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit microcontrollers in C.
  • Understanding of microcontroller peripherals including timers, GPIO, watchdogs, ADC, UART, and DMA.
  • Strong understanding of embedded software concepts including real-time processing, process scheduling, cooperative multitasking, interrupt processing, race conditions, and RTOS.
  • Experience with software development processes and controls such as static analysis, distributed version control, unit testing, and bug tracking.
  • Experience debugging with an in-circuit debugger or other methods.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, integrity, and problem-solving skills.
  • ARM architecture, assembly-language coding, closed-loop control, feedback systems, lithium-ion battery systems, and sensored or sensorless trapezoidal motor control are preferred or beneficial.
  • Ability to travel and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
