Base Salary
$184k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Research emerging techniques in retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI.
- Prototype new ideas and turn successful prototypes into production-grade features.
- Define technical direction across multiple teams within Fivetran AI.
- Build and maintain back-end and front-end systems for the Fivetran AI product.
- Drive the AISQL capability forward, executing natural language to SQL.
- Take ownership of production reliability, including on-call rotation and incident response.
- Set high standards for testing and QA practices.
- Use coding agents to automate repetitive tasks.
- Independently define and execute plans based on high-level direction.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to the hiring process.
Requirements
- 8+ years of programming experience in Python and/or Java.
- Ability to influence and define technical direction across multiple teams.
- Comfortable reading AI/ML research and turning findings into prototypes.
- Strong product and market awareness to judge emerging techniques.
- Experience with SQL and data warehouses like BigQuery or Snowflake.
- Willingness to work across the full stack, including research, backend, frontend, SRE, and QA.
- Ability to write well-structured, performant code.
- Experience using coding agents or similar AI tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions.
- Thrives in a startup-like environment with shifting priorities.
