Base Salary
$170k - $255k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain bare-metal firmware and low-level device drivers for Qualcomm Automotive reference platforms.
- Perform early hardware bring-up and debug new boards and chipsets across hardware, firmware, and system boundaries.
- Implement and extend test firmware for platform validation, manufacturing test, and factory enablement.
- Collaborate with hardware design, silicon, systems, and validation teams to define requirements and resolve integration issues.
- Analyze failures using schematics, register traces, logic analyzer data, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Support multiple hardware platforms and configurations across different use cases.
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best practices for low-level embedded software development.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on embedded software, debugging, and platform bring-up.
- Participate in cross-site and cross-functional reviews and communicate technical status clearly.
- Research and develop new test methods and capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 6+ years of software engineering or related experience; or a master's degree and 5+ years; or a PhD and 4+ years.
- 3+ years of experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong expertise in device-driver and bare-metal software development, register-level programming, GPIO configuration, and hardware bring-up.
- Working knowledge of SPI, USB, I2C/I3C, I2S, PCIe, UART, RAM, UFS, DP, MIPI CSI/DSI, CAN, and Ethernet interfaces and protocols.
- Experience with Lauterbach Trace32 and JTAG-based debuggers.
- Experience with automotive peripherals including ASIL-D microcontrollers, CAN transceivers, camera/display SerDes, PCIe switches, Ethernet switches, and PHYs.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and bench power supplies.
- Deep understanding of ARM and/or RISC-V processor architectures.
- Experience using Perforce or similar software revision-control systems.
- Ability to interpret datasheets, hardware design documents, schematics, and CCA drawings.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to collaborate with international teams.
- Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of experience in embedded systems, device drivers, or firmware development; 10+ years of programming experience in C, C++, Python, Assembly, or similar languages; and 10+ years of experience with engineering lab tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and JTAG debuggers.
