Responsibilities
- Own Cape’s internal developer experience platform as a product for the engineering organization.
- Continuously improve continuous integration and deployment pipelines and eliminate flaky tests, non-reproducible builds, slow pipelines, and environment drift.
- Design infrastructure that enables engineers to move from code to deployed artifact quickly and confidently.
- Instrument development pipelines end to end and identify bottlenecks proactively.
- Own containerized local development setups, secrets management, service dependencies, and engineer onboarding workflows.
- Evaluate new developer tools, measure adoption, gather feedback, and retire ineffective tools.
- Operate internal developer platforms with production-level reliability and operational discipline.
- Identify organizational friction through observation, surveys, and direct team partnership, then prioritize improvements.
Requirements
- Build and maintain internal tooling, scripts, SDKs, testing utilities, debugging aids, and local development environments.
- Own and improve build and deployment pipelines, including build times, flakiness, parallelism, caching, and test isolation.
- Evaluate, integrate, and configure AI coding, review, and agentic development tools within security and compliance constraints.
- Develop guardrails, prompt-engineering systems, retrieval-augmented generation over internal documentation, and repository-aware AI configurations.
- Measure developer productivity, AI-tool adoption, code acceptance, time savings, and quality outcomes.
- Partner with platform, product, and security engineering teams on reliability, secrets handling, artifact signing, dependency provenance, and supply-chain integrity.
- Set and improve engineering standards around testing, code review, deployment, documentation, and runbooks.
- Write code and infrastructure that other engineers can reliably depend on.
