Responsibilities
- Design and build agentic AI applications that plan tasks, use tools, adapt to results, and manage context and memory.
- Develop and review production code, application architecture, backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations.
- Take AI applications from prototypes through production and ongoing support, including automated tests, agent evaluations, controlled releases, monitoring, and operational readiness.
- Partner with Platform engineers to support deployment across Azure, Databricks, and related services, including safe recovery from interruptions and prevention of repeated actions.
- Build privacy, security, responsible AI, access control, credential protection, and human-review safeguards into agent designs.
- Assess unsafe or unreliable behavior, resolve production issues, make architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and share reusable tools and practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a related discipline, including hands-on delivery and operation of complex production systems and agentic applications.
- Strong software architecture experience across APIs, backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations, with sound complexity and trade-off judgment.
- Advanced Python skills and strong engineering fundamentals, including automated testing, code review, version control, and maintainable design.
- Working knowledge of SQL and data access patterns, plus practical understanding of context engineering, memory, agent evaluation, task completion, tool behavior, and failure recovery.
- Experience delivering secure cloud applications using CI/CD, containers, and observability in partnership with platform teams.
- Understanding of application security, privacy, Responsible AI, identity, authorization, model-output risks, and tool-execution risks.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in architectural decisions, pragmatic delivery planning, cross-team influence, mentoring, and quality improvement through reusable patterns.
- Experience with Azure and Databricks or comparable cloud and AI platforms is beneficial.
- Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, web application development, agent SDKs, MCP integrations, and AI-assisted software development is beneficial.
