Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, including reusable templates, testing, security scanning, and deployment workflows.
- Govern GitHub organizations and Azure DevOps projects through access controls, branch policies, code review requirements, and audit logging.
- Provision and manage Azure infrastructure, including compute, networking, containers, databases, storage, identity, AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB, using Infrastructure as Code.
- Manage Azure identity and access through Entra ID, managed identities, Key Vault, RBAC, and least-privilege service-to-service patterns.
- Support infrastructure for an AWS-hosted project and align its IaC, security, observability, and deployment practices with the Azure environment.
- Own IaC modules, remote state, automated plan and apply workflows, policy-as-code enforcement, drift detection, and infrastructure quality standards.
- Automate environment provisioning, resource lifecycle management, operational runbooks, and other manual work.
- Build observability through metrics, logging, alerting, and dashboards, and own alerting strategy, on-call runbooks, incident response participation, and post-incident reviews.
- Drive developer onboarding, pipeline troubleshooting, cross-team enablement, platform roadmap input, cloud cost governance, and technical communication.
- Mentor junior engineers and communicate platform decisions, trade-offs, and infrastructure risks to technical and executive audiences.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure engineering with hands-on production delivery ownership.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD design, delivery practices, environment promotion, release strategies, and prioritizing pipeline improvements.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining large-scale pipelines across GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, including reusable workflows and shared templates.
- Experience with cloud identity and access concepts including Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC, service-to-service authentication, and secrets management.
- Ability to read, review, and reason about code in at least one major backend language, with .NET or Python preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud environments, preferably Azure, including deployment standards, policies, and security gates.
- Experience operating container and Kubernetes workloads, preferably AKS, including cluster lifecycle management, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Experience communicating platform decisions, trade-offs, and infrastructure risk to technical and executive audiences.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers on DevOps and cloud-native practices and coordinating infrastructure and reliability work across multiple teams.
- Preferred experience operating and hardening AKS, Docker, and Kubernetes network policy at scale.
- Preferred experience leading IaC standardization using Terraform, Bicep, Checkov, OPA, or similar tools.
- Preferred familiarity with Azure managed identity and least-privilege patterns, including Entra ID and Managed Identities.
- Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, CKA/CKAD, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or equivalent practical experience are preferred.
- Preferred experience partnering with security, SRE, or incident response teams and contributing to platform or DevOps strategy and roadmap planning.
