Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Postgres.
- Implement highly distributed and resilient architectures in AWS and Kubernetes environments.
- Create shared infrastructure services and tooling used across Altruist’s product teams.
- Mentor and guide teams on secure coding practices and resilient, performant code.
- Use automated testing practices to maintain high-quality code.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
- Work independently while contributing to a collaborative Platform team.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience building scalable backend services at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization.
- Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
- Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Strong SQL knowledge, including Postgres and MySQL.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Understanding of performant and reliable systems.
- Ability to quickly learn modern technology stacks such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Temporal, and Snowflake.
- Preferred experience with AI best practices, particularly Claude.
- Preferred experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, with GitLab as a plus.
- Familiarity with Debezium, Temporal, and OpenTelemetry.
- Knowledge of brokerage platforms and the financial services industry.
- A relevant B.A. or B.S. degree is preferred, but equivalent experience and understanding are valued.
