Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and roadmap for the Machine Learning Platform, including real-time ingestion, lakehouse governance, and ML serving infrastructure.
- Design and scale distributed data systems using Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, and Databricks.
- Establish engineering standards, architectural best practices, and platform consistency across teams.
- Lead complex engineering initiatives through technical specifications, milestones, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Architecture teams on data sharing and enterprise infrastructure.
- Own monitoring, incident response, operational reliability, and continuous improvement for critical platform services.
- Drive cloud cost efficiency through resource optimization, cost monitoring, and scalable compute management.
- Develop AI-assisted engineering automation and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or machine learning infrastructure, including leadership of complex technical initiatives.
- Deep expertise in distributed data systems, streaming technologies, schema management, and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
- Strong experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse platforms, including governance, access management, and scalable data architecture.
- Proficiency with AWS, Terraform, infrastructure as code, cloud networking, and identity management.
- Experience defining technical architecture, establishing engineering standards, and influencing decisions across engineering and data teams.
- Experience managing production infrastructure, monitoring, on-call support, incident response, and operational reliability.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and applying emerging technologies to improve engineering efficiency.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentorship, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience with Snowflake, machine learning serving infrastructure, cloud cost optimization, or AI-powered developer tooling is preferred.
