Base Salary
$149k - $201k/yr
Responsibilities
- Assess the SDN codebase, including architecture, builds, dependencies, runtime components, tests, security posture, and upstream open-source relationships.
- Implement secure and maintainable changes that remediate vulnerabilities, improve resilience, and preserve traceability across upstream, government-owned, configured, and locally patched software.
- Develop unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, failure-mode, and chaos-oriented tests.
- Use AI-enabled tooling to maintain and develop the SDN application codebase.
- Debug application, Linux, and network behavior involving traffic flows, routing, segmentation, identity, failover, telemetry, and performance.
- Partner with platform engineers on container readiness, packaging, CI/CD, deployment workflows, and automated security scanning while owning code-level remediation.
- Support lab validation, demonstrations, release acceptance, technical documentation, architecture and code reviews, stakeholder communication, and engineering mentorship.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with proficiency in C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Demonstrated ownership of production or legacy codebases.
- Strong Linux fundamentals, including services, processes, permissions, logging, package management, and command-line troubleshooting.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, TLS, segmentation, interfaces, policy enforcement, and traffic analysis.
- Experience with secure software development, dependency management, vulnerability triage, patching, code review, remediation, and comprehensive testing.
- Working knowledge of containers, version control, build automation, CI/CD, registries, observability, and modern release practices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, technical assessment, design document, and runbook skills.
- U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government SECRET security clearance or higher are required.
- Preferred qualifications include SDN, network orchestration, routing, virtual network functions, network appliances, network-control software, containerization, upstream open-source maintenance, agentic AI-assisted engineering, Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps, OCI artifacts, SAST, DAST, software composition analysis, SBOMs, container scanning, STIGs, resilience or chaos engineering, observability, and VM-to-container modernization experience.
