Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance performant, scalable, and resilient backend applications.
- Develop and maintain Java microservices using Spring Boot and Quarkus.
- Build cloud-native, event-driven solutions using AWS services, including Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon API Gateway.
- Design and implement distributed architectures and observability practices covering logging, metrics, monitoring, and distributed tracing.
- Participate in software architecture discussions and technical design decisions.
- Drive code quality, engineering best practices, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and developer copilots to improve productivity and software quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in Agile environments.
Requirements
- Proven mid-to-senior backend software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Quarkus.
- Strong AWS experience, including Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon API Gateway.
- Experience designing and developing microservices and distributed, event-driven architectures.
- Experience implementing observability practices, including logging, metrics, and tracing.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar assistants.
- Intermediate English proficiency.
- Nice-to-have experience with reactive programming using Mutiny or Project Reactor, investment banking or financial services, the Nasdaq Calypso platform, and highly scalable mission-critical backend systems.
