Base Salary
$177k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead projects or systems and coordinate the work of other engineers.
- Define technical tasks, oversee complete and operable solutions, and reconcile time, quality, complexity, and risk tradeoffs.
- Contribute to software code and design reviews while improving engineering standards, structures, and processes.
- Collaborate with management and product managers to refine requirements and make technical decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical expert for employee inquiries.
- Own service performance and availability, participate in on-call rotations, and provide incident support.
- Build and operate fault-tolerant, scalable distributed payment backend services.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of experience with Python or an equivalent high-level programming language.
- Advanced skills with relational and NoSQL data stores, caching solutions, and messaging or queuing systems.
- Experience with distributed services, backend systems, fault-tolerant systems, scalable systems, and public cloud platforms.
- Experience with AWS preferred, with GCP or Azure as alternatives.
- Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Understanding of Linux OS, the Java Virtual Machine, Python runtime behavior, and performance characteristics.
- Ability to compare implementation choices and their nonfunctional characteristics.
- Strong programming, technical communication, mentoring, and problem-solving capabilities.
