Responsibilities
- Analyze customer engineering, business, and software requirements and propose technically feasible solutions.
- Estimate required effort, identify risks, and formulate implementation approaches and assumptions.
- Design, develop, test, integrate, and document data management applications for electricity markets and customer projects.
- Support software releases and troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve defects with onsite and support teams.
- Research and develop expertise in data management, market operations, power-system analysis, and real-time control.
- Improve software development practices and documentation.
- Represent the company in internal and external stakeholder discussions, customer meetings, and industry gatherings.
- Travel for short periods to visit or support customers around the world.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of electrical engineering experience emphasizing electricity markets.
- Ph.D. or master's degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in electricity markets is listed as a preferred background.
- Formal education in electrical power-systems optimization, data structures, and databases is preferred.
- Experience with electrical power-system network modeling, network topological analysis, power flow, contingency analysis, state estimation, security-constrained unit commitment, economic dispatch, and numerical methods.
- At least one year of experience using high-performance programming languages such as FORTRAN or C/C++.
- At least one year of experience using Linux or AIX operating systems.
- At least one year of experience developing power-system application software for electricity markets.
- Experience with multithreading and high-performance, memory-intensive analytical applications.
- Proficient written and oral English communication skills are preferred.
- Must already have U.S. work authorization permitting employment with Hitachi Energy.
