Responsibilities
- Partner with Engineering and Product to embed technical privacy practices into products and identify risks before they become issues.
- Explore products and services to identify data-protection improvements and opportunities for privacy-preserving technologies.
- Identify privacy issues in system designs and implementations, then suggest and drive robust fixes.
- Build partnerships across engineering, legal, policy, and other teams to integrate privacy into designs.
- Implement and evolve privacy engineering principles, culture, and standard methodologies.
- Coach teammates as customer- and value-focused privacy engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience conducting technical privacy reviews to identify common failures, design patterns, and trade-offs.
- Strong privacy domain knowledge and command of technical privacy issues across the software and systems development lifecycle.
- Ability to identify privacy and security hurdles and solutions, understand business, user, and technical requirements, and recognize sophisticated privacy dependencies in large-scale systems.
- Experience leading, engaging, and operating within partner-team goals while integrating privacy into designs.
- Ability to build close cross-functional partnerships, challenge the status quo pragmatically, and champion trust.
- Preferred: experience investigating and resolving privacy incidents.
- Preferred: experience with human-centric threat modeling, data anonymization, or other privacy-preserving techniques, processes, or technologies.
- Preferred: code-review experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
- Preferred: experience developing or debugging microservice architectures or distributed systems.
