Base Salary
$147k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement FreeRTOS firmware in C and C++ with automated unit and integration tests.
- Build Bristlemouth integrations for Spotter and Smart Mooring and evolve the open-source Bristlemouth core APIs.
- Develop next-generation platforms and collaborate cross-functionally on new product features.
- Implement host-side testing, analysis, and automation tools in Python.
- Break complex efforts into parallelizable work streams and contribute to code reviews and technical planning.
- Design, integrate, test, and debug systems with electrical and mechanical engineers.
- Execute firmware releases, build installers, write release notes, and communicate releases to internal and external audiences.
- Participate in integrated system testing, advanced research, experiments, and open-ocean deployments.
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of professional embedded firmware or software experience.
- Prior experience serving as a technical lead for a firmware team.
- Fluency in embedded C and C++ and comfort with Python.
- Experience with FreeRTOS and multiple embedded platforms.
- Understanding of common hardware peripherals and interfaces.
- Strong communication, collaboration, systems thinking, and software architecture skills.
