Base Salary
$89k - $131k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build automated HIL and SIL test benches using target hardware, simulation, and custom fixtures.
- Own firmware regression as a reliability gate and integrate automated hardware testing into CI systems.
- Design and run fault-injection campaigns covering sensor faults, bus dropouts, power anomalies, and motor-out conditions.
- Build test tooling and instrumentation for signal injection, CAN/UART/I2C/SPI traffic generation and monitoring, telemetry capture, and automated log analysis.
- Convert flight-test and field data into reproducible bench tests and regression coverage.
- Contribute to DFMEA, firmware-side root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and reliability metrics.
- Contribute to manufacturing and board bring-up test suites for new boards and subsystems.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software test, firmware verification, or embedded reliability engineering.
- Strong Python skills for test automation and tooling, plus working C/C++ skills for reading and instrumenting embedded software.
- Hands-on experience testing bare-metal or RTOS firmware on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers such as STM32, including interrupts, timing, and clock-level behavior.
- Experience building or operating hardware-in-the-loop test setups.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, debuggers, and JTAG-SWD tools such as pyOCD, OpenOCD, or J-Link.
- Familiarity with CAN, CAN-FD, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Experience with Git, CMake, and CI systems such as GitHub Actions or Buildkite.
- Ability to read schematics and use a soldering iron.
- Preferred experience with Zephyr RTOS, devicetree, Kconfig, west, or a comparable RTOS.
- Preferred familiarity with DFMEA, fault-tree or RBD analysis, root-cause methods, reliability metrics, and safety-critical or regulated-domain testing.
- Preferred familiarity with DO-178, DO-160, MIL-STD, battery management systems, motor control, or power-electronics testing.
