Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain performant distributed services and highly available APIs in Go, Java, and/or Python.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams to align product and engineering goals.
- Write maintainable, observable, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
- Own the operation of APIs and services through performance measurement, load testing, alert and dashboard tuning, runbooks, and incident response.
- Participate in rapid-response on-call rotations for internal and external services.
- Use AI tooling responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience in a production environment, preferably with Python, Java, and/or Go.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Geosciences, or equivalent practical experience.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices and development methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with GCP or AWS and experience deploying to Kubernetes.
- Experience with relational databases, document stores, key-value stores, Git, large codebases, merge-request reviews, complex CI/CD pipelines, and Docker containers.
- Ability to learn new technologies independently, work through ambiguity, and make calculated risks.
- Preferred: familiarity with geospatial concepts and standards, GeoTIFFs, GeoJSON, STAC, remotely sensed products, associated metadata, and observability platforms such as Grafana.
