Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain performant distributed services and highly available APIs using Go, Java, and/or Python.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams to align product and engineering objectives.
- Write maintainable, observable, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
- Operate APIs and services by measuring performance, conducting load tests, tuning alerts and dashboards, and maintaining runbooks.
- Participate in rapid-response on-call rotations and respond to incidents affecting internal and external services.
- Use AI tooling throughout the development lifecycle while maintaining the same quality standards as manually written work.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software development experience in a production environment, preferably with Python, Java, and/or Go.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Geosciences, or equivalent practical experience.
- Understanding of software engineering best practices and development methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Experience with relational databases, document stores, and key-value stores.
- Experience with Git, large codebases, merge-request reviews, and complex CI/CD pipelines.
- Comfort working with Docker containers and learning new technologies independently.
- Preferred: familiarity with geospatial concepts and standards, GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, STAC, remotely sensed products, associated metadata, and Grafana.
