Responsibilities

  • Measure, analyze, and control the relationship between power and performance in Apple silicon systems.
  • Study workload execution across Apple platforms and develop operating-system performance-control features.
  • Design and conduct performance experiments and create instrumentation and data visualizations.
  • Prototype in-kernel performance-control algorithms and productize software controlling workload performance.
  • Collaborate with core operating-system and user-facing application teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
  • Experience with operating-system design and implementation.
  • Kernel software development experience in C or C++.
  • Preferred: at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering field.
  • Preferred: knowledge of computer architecture and hardware performance-monitoring instrumentation.
  • Preferred: userland software development experience with C, C++, Swift, or Python.
  • Preferred: experience with system-level performance profiling, debugging tools, and tracing frameworks such as DTrace, Instruments, or perf.
  • Preferred: familiarity with data analysis, statistical modeling, or visualization techniques for complex power and performance metrics.
