Responsibilities
- Shape the technical vision and roadmap for trading flexibility across energy markets and hardware assets.
- Research, develop, productionize, deliver, and monitor algorithmic trading strategies and models for residential battery flexibility.
- Model execution-price improvement, market impact, order-book dynamics, intraday price movements, and market microstructure.
- Implement reliable, data-driven solutions in real-time production systems using rigorous testing, code quality, review, and monitoring practices.
- Coordinate complex trading-strategy projects from research through production deployment, resolving dependencies and delivery risks.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and partner-company stakeholders across the ecosystem.
- Identify market opportunities and residential flexibility value to inform the data science roadmap.
- Guide and develop junior colleagues through design reviews, code reviews, and structured feedback.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or another related quantitative discipline.
- At least 5 years of applied data science and/or quantitative experience, including significant experience developing trading algorithms in the energy or financial sectors.
- Proficiency in Python and software-engineering practices including testing, code quality, code review, monitoring, and modular code design.
- Deep understanding of trading mechanics, price formation, market microstructure, risk, and the constraints of deploying backtested strategies live.
- Strong knowledge of probability, statistics, time-series processing, analysis, and forecasting in streaming settings.
- Experience with independent research, analytical problem-solving, detailed work, communication, collaboration, and managing multiple tasks.
- Preferred experience with real-time or near-real-time analytics workflows and energy trading involving battery storage flexibility.
- Preferred expertise in algorithmic trading strategies, market-impact modeling, order-book dynamics, intraday forecasting, machine learning, mathematical optimization, and productionizing models on AWS or a comparable cloud.
