Base Salary
$190k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and ship scalable backend systems handling millions of requests per day.
- Design, implement, and optimize APIs for Blockworks’ research and media products.
- Own database design, optimization, reliability, data modeling, and query performance for MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Implement caching and performance strategies using Redis or similar tools.
- Lead backend feature development from planning through production release and contribute to requirements, project scoping, and architectural decisions.
- Diagnose and resolve scalability, performance, and reliability issues under real-world load.
- Improve testing, monitoring, and observability across the stack.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver seamless integrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience focused on backend development and architecture.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience building reliable API endpoints capable of handling more than 1 million requests per day.
- Proficiency designing and optimizing MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
- Experience with caching mechanisms such as Redis.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in fast-paced environments, with familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tools, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
- Strong collaboration skills and a track record of writing clean, maintainable, reusable code.
- Preferred experience with NestJS, TypeORM, PHP legacy migrations, AWS cloud infrastructure, ML/AI models, and the crypto industry.
