Responsibilities
- Architect and own large-scale distributed systems from design through production.
- Drive technical direction and engineering best practices across the team and adjacent teams.
- Lead delivery of complex and ambiguous initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Lead incident root-cause analysis, implement permanent fixes, and share learnings.
- Communicate technical complexity in business terms to stakeholders.
- Evaluate technology trade-offs and make pragmatic technical-debt decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience, master’s degree plus 8 years, or PhD plus 5 years.
- Deep Java knowledge, including concurrency, the JVM, the memory model, and performance tuning.
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, system design, distributed systems, and architecture.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka or SQS, high-scale API design, database design and sharding, and circuit-breaker patterns.
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services, Docker/containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with unit and integration testing practices.
- Proven cross-team influence, ownership, mentoring, and delivery in ambiguous environments.
