Base Salary
$170k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Improve enterprise-grade retail software at scale.
- Set technical direction and make architecture decisions that shape system evolution.
- Scope, sharpen, and stress-test customer-facing features with stakeholders.
- Engage with customers to understand workflows and pain points.
- Partner across teams on unified solutions to shared problems.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering judgment, code quality, and craft standards.
- Plan, estimate, sequence, and de-risk large initiatives.
- Own outcomes from ambiguous problem definition through production operation.
Requirements
- Experience building and running production systems at scale.
- Deep hands-on experience with at least one modern backend stack.
- Experience designing scalable data models across relational and non-relational databases.
- Strong engineering craft, including clean, tested, maintainable code.
- Routine use of LLMs for research, issue diagnosis, planning, coding, code review, and monitoring shipped work.
- Ability to influence technical direction, communicate trade-offs, work across teams, mentor others, and own production outcomes.
- Experience around 8+ years is typical for the desired depth and influence, though Dutchie is flexible on years of experience.
- Cannabis industry, POS, ecommerce, payments, retail or commerce technology, AWS cloud-native infrastructure, third-party integrations, or AI-assisted engineering experience is preferred.
