Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for humanoid robotic systems with hard-real-time performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Integrate and optimize sensors, actuators, motors, communication modules, and other hardware-software components.
  • Write and debug firmware for microcontrollers, FPGAs, ASICs, and SoCs.
  • Implement and manage EtherCAT, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, and other communication protocols.
  • Develop low-level drivers and interfaces for sensors, motors, and control electronics.
  • Perform hardware testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization under system and resource constraints.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, robotics, and AI engineers on system integration and deployment.
  • Document system architecture, code, test results, and implementation decisions, and own embedded components from concept through deployment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing embedded software or firmware for robotics, embedded systems, or real-time hardware platforms.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, with Python experience for testing or tooling.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems architecture, hardware-software interfaces, sensors, actuators, and motor control systems.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems and communication protocols including EtherNet, EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, UART, or I2C.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit debuggers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include ROS or ROS2 experience, FPGA or SoC development, distributed robotic control systems, EtherCAT-based motor drivers, real-time control networks, and safety-critical or high-reliability embedded systems experience.
