Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for embedded firmware used in Oil & Gas equipment.
- Develop and maintain frameworks for regression, functional, integration, and system-level testing.
- Perform hands-on testing of devices, including sensor calibration validation, real-time data acquisition, and communication-protocol testing.
- Analyze test results, log defects, and collaborate with development teams on root-cause analysis and resolution.
- Validate firmware against safety, reliability, and compliance standards.
- Assist with hardware-in-the-loop testing strategies and execution.
- Define test strategies, traceability matrices, and quality metrics with cross-functional teams.
- Support field deployment teams with firmware testing and troubleshooting under real-world conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in firmware QA and testing, preferably in a regulated or industrial environment.
- Experience with Google Test, Robot Framework, Unity for C, or PyTest.
- Proficiency in Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages for test automation.
- Experience testing embedded systems, RTOS, device drivers, and communication interfaces.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, PLC, or industrial communication protocols is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Preferred experience in Oil & Gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Exposure to safety-critical systems or standards such as IEC 61508, API standards, ATEX, or SIL.
- Experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
- Knowledge of hardware bring-up testing and field deployment validation.
