
Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data solutions that deliver oncology research insights and support drug discovery R&D.
- Collaborate with clinical data analysts to meet data quality standards and contractual requirements.
- Translate ambiguous business and research needs into scoped technical solutions.
- Balance customer needs, technical constraints, and delivery timelines.
- Mentor, educate, and develop junior data engineers.
- Manage multiple pipelines and stakeholders while ensuring on-time delivery.
- Participate in design and code reviews and improve team quality.
- Identify and address inefficiencies in code and processes.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools while applying judgment to maintain quality.
- Monitor pipeline processes, investigate issues, and resolve root causes.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data-intensive applications.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience building, maintaining, and debugging ETL/ELT pipelines and their orchestration systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerized environments using Docker.
- Experience with data modeling and production datasets in Snowflake.
- Experience leading data engineering teams and managing engineers.
- Expertise in data engineering practices including debugging, testing, validation, orchestration, and observability.
- Experience collaborating through Git, code review, and documentation.
- Clear communication skills with non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in computer science, data science, or a related field.
- Healthcare or healthcare-related data standards experience is a plus.
- Customer-facing solutions engineering or forward deployed engineering experience is a plus.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code is a plus.
