Responsibilities
- Design, implement, integrate, and verify software for GNC algorithms, command and telemetry handling, mission sequencing, autonomy, fault management, and closed-loop propulsion and attitude control.
- Implement features for a real-time flight software framework that meet deterministic performance requirements in space environments.
- Develop anomaly detection and mitigation algorithms for sensor failures, actuator malfunctions, and radiation-induced faults.
- Direct and participate in code reviews while ensuring software safety, reliability, and maintainability standards.
- Support mission operations and troubleshoot real-time issues during ground integration, environmental testing, and on-orbit operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience writing C++ for an embedded system or vehicle such as a robot, car, drone, or spacecraft.
- Understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
- Experience with a Real Time Operating System or Embedded Linux.
- Experience using version control, test cases, and other software best practices.
- Preferred: spacecraft flight software experience, familiarity with NASA cFS, ROS2, or custom space-application middleware, and experience with deterministic timing, hard real-time constraints, spacecraft integration and testing, launch, or mission operations.
