Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the Azure cloud estate, including AKS, Function Apps, Front Door, Application Gateway, and Azure DNS.
- Contribute to the AWS estate across EKS, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, and related services.
- Design and manage hub-and-spoke network architecture, landing zones, and cloud infrastructure.
- Manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and standardize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Bitbucket, and ArgoCD.
- Operate and improve Kubernetes, GitOps, observability, monitoring, backups, health checks, patching, and remediation processes.
- Investigate and resolve production and infrastructure issues and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Rotate certificates and secrets, validate backup integrity, and improve platform security and reliability.
- Automate workflows using Bash, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Document systems through runbooks and training materials and mentor colleagues on automation best practices.
- Collaborate with development teams to diagnose and resolve backend issues and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing distributed systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency with Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform, including the Well-Architected Framework.
- Solid knowledge of networking, DNS, and landing zone or hub-and-spoke architectures.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows and Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Competence with RDS, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases.
- Development experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java.
- Proficiency with AWS or genuine willingness to learn it.
- Strong communication, analytical, quality-focused, and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Preferred experience includes AWS EKS, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, S3, and CloudFormation.
- Preferred experience includes Grafana’s LGTM stack, Loki, Mimir, UpTrends, Kafka, Linkerd, Karpenter, Vault, Authentik, SSO, VPC/VNet design, Transit Gateway, VPN, and WAF configuration.
