Base Salary
$179k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Make technical decisions affecting multiple teams and organizational boundaries.
- Establish conventions and processes used by other employees.
- Lead and prioritize multiple simultaneous multi-team initiatives.
- Apply current industry capabilities and practices to technical decisions.
- Communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Improve the technical effectiveness of other employees through mentoring, modeling, working sessions, and documentation.
- Partner with product management to develop solutions to business problems and goals.
- Build and guide fault-tolerant, scalable distributed services and backend systems.
- Mentor engineering staff at all levels and manage relationships with product, engineering operations, business, and support teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of experience with Python or an equivalent high-level programming language preferred.
- Advanced skills with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores, caching solutions, and messaging or queuing systems.
- Expertise with distributed services and backend systems.
- Experience building services on public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Experience with fault-tolerant and scalable distributed services and systems.
- Past experience with Feed and Search.
- A master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
