Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect software frameworks bridging instrument control, CMOS chip communication, and high-throughput image-processing pipelines.
- Identify and resolve systemic test-cycle bottlenecks by optimizing asynchronous execution, inter-process communication, and data ingestion.
- Lead the decomposition of monolithic legacy codebases into modular, maintainable, distributed, and cross-platform systems.
- Implement release pipelines, manage cross-platform build infrastructure, and mature the software development lifecycle using Google's internal developer tools.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while partnering with executive domain experts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of experience designing distributed, cross-platform, or automated test infrastructures for hardware-software integration.
- At least 5 years of experience with concurrent programming, multithreading, or asynchronous system architectures.
- At least 5 years of experience with communication protocols such as TCP/IP or RPC.
- Experience writing software abstraction layers, drivers, and wrappers around third-party instrument SDKs and APIs for laboratory hardware.
- Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines, managing cross-platform build servers, and implementing deployment automation.
- Familiarity with C++ and GPU compute workflows, including interfacing Python with compiled binaries or vendor SDKs.
- Background with optical hardware systems such as cameras and displays, plus familiarity with image processing.
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, process management, low-level I/O, and cross-platform IPC.
- A master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
