Base Salary
$173k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Scale and maintain Chef cookbooks, custom resources, and environments across bare metal and virtual machine infrastructure.
- Standardize system configuration and automate bare metal provisioning and virtual machine lifecycles.
- Build, optimize, and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and testing.
- Lead pull-request reviews, code-quality standards, testing frameworks, and infrastructure governance.
- Mentor engineers on infrastructure-as-code practices, code reviews, and automation workflows.
- Drive hardware integration, OS configuration, virtualization lifecycle management, and troubleshooting across production environments.
- Support OS upgrades, critical security patches, priority security programs, and a shared on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on infrastructure automation and configuration-management experience, including Chef or similar tools.
- 8+ years managing, provisioning, and maintaining bare metal or enterprise virtualized infrastructure.
- 8+ years building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and automated testing.
- 8+ years establishing Git workflows, repository standards, and pull-request code reviews.
- 8+ years automating complex workflows and scaling multi-cloud or hybrid compute environments.
- 8+ years setting technical direction and driving engineering excellence across cross-functional engineering teams.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Ruby, Python, Bash, Go, or another scripting or programming language.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise server hardware, PXE boot, IPMI, DNS, DHCP, and core network protocols.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Terraform, and enterprise monitoring frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating across distributed teams and time zones.
