Responsibilities

  • Design, write, modify, debug, test, and document new and legacy software systems.
  • Research and apply programming languages, data structures, algorithms, file systems, libraries, tools, and datasets.
  • Support software design, development, and debugging activities across the team.
  • Troubleshoot server hardware and software, upgrade and install third-party software, and monitor system status.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Use bug-reporting and trouble-ticket software to investigate client and user issues with support staff.

Requirements

  • Prior software development experience.
  • Experience with the Linux development toolchain, including gcc/g++, make, gdb, gprof, valgrind, and Git.
  • Linux system administration experience and Bash or sh scripting skills.
  • Knowledge of C, C++, C#, PHP, Python, JavaScript, and other languages as needed.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, template metaprogramming, algorithms, data structures, sockets, multithreading, graphics and image generation, and regular expressions.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills and the ability to work successfully in an Agile/Scrum team environment.
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
