Responsibilities
- Lead exploration and application of large language models for translation tasks and Apple product features.
- Translate current ML and NLP research into practical systems and models for machine translation and consumer products.
- Participate in model development from ideation and experimentation through training, fine-tuning, and deployment.
- Develop and maintain localization features, frameworks, and tools supporting the software translation process.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with machine learning, especially large language models and natural language processing.
- Ability to interpret and apply cutting-edge research to consumer-oriented products.
- Hands-on experience with fine-tuning, model training, and adapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasks.
- Proficiency with open-source ML toolkits and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Swift, C, or C++.
- Preferred qualifications include software localization or internationalization experience, knowledge of Unicode, XLIFF, and ICU, native-level foreign-language skills, computational linguistics knowledge, published ML or AI research, Xcode experience, and familiarity with Apple development APIs such as SwiftUI and Foundation.
