Responsibilities

  • Drive delivery of software integrated into autonomous maritime products, including autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control.
  • Own software-enabled solutions deployed to customers and optimize them for end-user value.
  • Design and implement scalable software with an evolutionary architecture and reusable components across product lines.
  • Develop software running on and off robotic platforms.
  • Design and execute development processes covering delivery, iteration, lifecycle testing, monitoring, operation, and sustainment of vehicle and mission software.
  • Create software- and hardware-in-the-loop test and simulation fixtures.
  • Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment.
  • Act as a technical lead and software service owner across architecture, design, delivery, support, and product evolution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor Software Engineers.
  • Travel to co-locate with end-users or other teams up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive professional experience as a Software Engineer with expertise in one or more domains or technologies.
  • Systems or application programming skills involving algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design.
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
  • Ability to work across the software stack and the full design, implementation, operation, and sustainment lifecycle.
  • Ability to own a software service, including stakeholder engagement, requirements, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and build team cohesion and capacity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
  • Preferred experience delivering military mission systems in a senior role.
  • Preferred experience with backend services or embedded software in C++, Rust, and/or Go.
  • Preferred experience building frontend applications with TypeScript and React.
  • Preferred experience designing, implementing, and operating horizontally scaled cloud technologies.
  • Preferred experience with embedded robotics software, modeling and simulation, high-assurance safety-critical software, and product delivery through manufacturing, acceptance, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts is preferred.
