Responsibilities
- Design, develop, secure, manage, deploy, publish, monitor, and support enterprise APIs across on-premises, SaaS, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Develop Google Apigee API proxies, shared flows, traffic-management configurations, analytics, and policy enforcement.
- Build reusable API services and custom policies using JavaScript, Java, Node.js, Python, and related technologies.
- Implement API security, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, token-based security, throttling, rate limiting, and secure service exposure.
- Apply RESTful, distributed, stateless, scalable, resilient, and maintainable architecture patterns.
- Improve API platform capabilities including API catalogs, developer enablement, logging, caching, transformations, monitoring, observability, analytics, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, infrastructure teams, application teams, and business stakeholders on API and integration solutions.
- Use GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
- Create architecture diagrams, solution flows, and technical documentation using Visio or similar tools.
- Champion API standards, reusable patterns, continuous improvement, standardization, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
- At least 7–10 years of experience in development, engineering, or technical lead roles, including 8+ years of hands-on API design, development, and enterprise integration delivery.
- Deep hands-on experience with Google Apigee API Management/Gateway, including API proxy development, shared flows, traffic management, analytics, and policy enforcement.
- Strong experience designing, developing, securing, and managing APIs across on-premises, SaaS, cloud, and hybrid ecosystems.
- Experience with API lifecycle delivery, API gateways, API management, enterprise integration patterns, and service governance.
- Knowledge of OpenAPI 3.0, Swagger, REST, SOAP, JSON, messaging, microservices, and distributed integration patterns.
- Strong understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, token-based security, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Experience with scalable, secure, reusable, resilient, high-performing, and maintainable API solutions.
- Experience with JavaScript, Java, Node.js, Python, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and API testing and automation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, technical documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
