Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of the observability stack and ensure it remains resilient, scalable, and capable of supporting rapid growth.
- Evolve and maintain cloud-native infrastructure based on Kubernetes.
- Build a self-service Observability as a Service platform covering metrics, logs, traces, profiling, retention, and high-cardinality telemetry.
- Design Golden Paths that enable developers to instrument code and obtain high-fidelity signals with minimal operational overhead.
- Build abstractions, tooling, internal products, CLIs, and potentially Kubernetes operators that simplify service and observability lifecycles.
- Establish and maintain observability standards, guidelines, best practices, and RFC processes.
- Provide clear, actionable technical guidance and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
- Optimize telemetry and cloud costs while maintaining platform performance and reliability.
Requirements
- Proven technical experience with observability practices and tooling for metrics, logs, traces, and profiling.
- Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and their cloud-native application ecosystems.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, or similar open-source solutions.
- Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry infrastructure and instrumentation.
- Prior experience with AWS, Kubernetes, software engineering, and observability practices using open-source solutions is mandatory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience identifying solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to translate technical complexity into clear guidance for different stakeholders.
- Experience building internal tools, CLIs, or Kubernetes operators is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Crossplane, Istio, Linkerd, FinOps strategies, or CNCF certifications such as CKA, CKS, CKAD, PCA, or OTCA is a bonus.
