Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead PostgreSQL internals work involving index access methods and operator classes for large-scale unstructured and semi-structured data.
  • Extend the PostgreSQL query engine with BSON-aware operators, custom scan nodes, execution-plan analysis, and cursor or continuation semantics.
  • Design and tune index-pruning strategies while maintaining query performance.
  • Collaborate with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Linux Foundation DocumentDB communities on roadmap priorities and open-source engine features.
  • Profile distributed systems to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Participate in design and code reviews and help shape coding guidelines.
  • Complete required Microsoft Cloud background and security screening checks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience involving coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL internals or similar enterprise database management systems, including storage engines and high availability, is preferred.
  • Experience building distributed systems with strong guarantees is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and shipping system-level features in a large-scale cloud application or backend distributed system is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience developing and maintaining high-performance libraries or software focused on large distributed systems involving concurrency, storage systems, or databases is preferred.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.
