Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and optimize firmware applications in C and C++ for embedded Linux environments.
- Perform advanced packet inspection and network traffic analysis using Wireshark, tcpdump, and wireless sniffers.
- Diagnose complex system issues through SSH and serial terminals, log analysis, and kernel/application crash investigation.
- Validate Wi-Fi performance across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, including steering, mesh networking, DHCP, NAT, firewall, QoS, and parental-control features.
- Create detailed defect reports with reproducible steps, system observations, logs, and packet captures.
- Design and maintain Python and shell-script frameworks for automated testing, log collection, and large-scale soak testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience through work, military experience, or specialized training.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Hands-on firmware or software development experience in networking and embedded systems, especially Wi-Fi routers, gateways, or access points.
- Expertise writing production-quality C and C++ code, including C++11/14.
- Advanced Linux/Unix terminal, debugging, shell scripting, and process or memory monitoring experience.
- Extensive experience analyzing TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, and ICMP traffic with industry-standard tools.
- Knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards, WPA2/WPA3, WPS, and wireless RF, physical-layer, and MAC-layer behavior.
- Experience architecting, configuring, and deploying applications with Docker and containerized embedded development environments.
- Knowledge of OpenWrt, prplOS, RDK-B, or proprietary Qualcomm, Broadcom, or MediaTek router SDKs.
- Experience designing hardware test environments using RF sniffers, chambers, and traffic generators such as Spirent, Ixia, or iPerf.
