Responsibilities

  • Design and develop forwarding features within the IOS-XR platform.
  • Write high-performance C/C++ code for QoS, mirroring, slowpath, OAM, EVPN, VPLS, SRv6, Segment Routing, and MPLS functionality.
  • Implement NPU data-plane logic, including microcode and SDK interactions for packet processing.
  • Debug software defects using logs, core dumps, packet traces, and hardware/software analysis.
  • Profile and tune software to reduce latency and maximize throughput.
  • Use AI/LLM-based tools for code generation, unit-test creation, static analysis, and debugging.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of embedded software development experience for networking products.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and Python scripting or test-automation experience.
  • Knowledge of carrier-grade networking operating systems, forwarding architectures, and service-provider networks.
  • Experience debugging complex embedded software issues, including memory management and hardware/software interactions.
  • Experience with ClearCase, Valgrind, DDTS, GDB, or similar development and debugging tools.
  • Working knowledge of NPU data-plane architectures, pipelining, table management, and packet-processing flows.
  • Experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies and protocols such as EVPN, VPLS, SRv6, Segment Routing, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, TE tunnels, GRE tunnels, BFD, BGP Flowspec, ACLs, QoS, mirroring, OAM, or slowpath forwarding.
  • Preferred experience with IOS-XR or similar carrier-grade network operating systems.
  • Preferred knowledge of TCP/UDP, networking protocols, BCM, Silicon One, ezChip NPU programming, and AI/ML tools such as Copilot.
