Responsibilities
- Design and develop or update gas chromatography firmware, control systems, and programmable logic devices.
- Map requirements to specifications and architect embedded system solutions.
- Contribute to the conceptualization, design, and development of chromatography and mass spectrometry products.
- Identify subsystems and interfaces and collaborate with solution architects and developers on solution design.
- Ensure firmware designs conform to documented architecture and identify and mitigate technical risks.
- Evaluate emerging embedded systems technologies and translate them into technical vision and strategy.
- Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, with Computer Engineering considered when accompanied by hardware experience.
- C/C++ programming skills and experience with FreeRTOS and Linux application development and kernel image creation.
- Strong understanding of real-time software development and multithreading concepts.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and understand digital electronic circuit design and control systems.
- Experience with Eclipse-based embedded development and communication protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP, USB, Wi-Fi, SPI, RS-485, CAN, and I2C.
- Experience with system architecture design and 3–5 years of experience.
- Comfort working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, organizational, teamwork, negotiation, and customer-focus skills.
- AMD/Xilinx Vivado, FPGA development with VHDL, AMD/Xilinx Zynq and PetaLinux, analog electronic circuitry, and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript experience are assets.
Benefits
- Full-time, on-site position in Woodbridge, Ontario.
- Annual base compensation range of $103,500 to $110,000 CAD.
