Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data-driven, AI-enabled, or research-focused applications.
  • Build end-to-end applications incorporating web dashboards or portals, backend services, and AI or analytical functionality.
  • Design or operate pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and managing structured and unstructured research data.
  • Support AI-enabled applications on institutionally managed infrastructure and commercial AI platforms, including execution, resource usage, and reliability.
  • Work with high-performance computing resources, job schedulers, parallel programming, and large datasets on high-performance file systems.
  • Assess AI application behavior against user needs and refine configurations, workflows, or inputs.
  • Apply software engineering practices including testing, debugging, version control, dependency management, and documentation.
  • Develop example applications, reference implementations, reusable templates, onboarding materials, guides, and walkthroughs.
  • Direct the technical work of junior peers.
  • Provide technical guidance through consultancy, training, and workshops for faculty, researchers, students, project teams, end-users, and non-specialists.

Requirements

  • Senior-level candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience, two years of experience developing data-driven, AI-enabled, or research-focused applications, and experience providing technical guidance on AI systems and applications.
  • Lead-level candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination and experience, five years of experience developing data-driven, AI-enabled, or research-focused applications, and experience designing and delivering technical guidance on AI systems and applications.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree related to Data Science or Artificial Intelligence and formal professional training in applied artificial intelligence with hands-on enterprise-style AI platform experience.
  • Preferred experience includes AI-enabled research applications, end-to-end application development, research data pipelines, high-performance computing, scientific programming, and deployment on institutional and commercial AI platforms.
  • Preferred experience includes assessing AI application behavior, applying reliable software engineering practices, creating reusable examples and documentation, directing junior peers, and providing technical guidance to research communities.
