Responsibilities
- Build or extend simulation, rendering, or physics-modeling components for validating the Aurora Driver.
- Develop performance-sensitive simulation code in C++ with Python tooling.
- Apply 3D math and geometry or vehicle dynamics and behavior modeling.
- Validate simulation outputs against measured or ground-truth data.
- Profile and improve simulation pipelines running at scale.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Physics, or a related field.
- Have built a simulator, renderer, physics engine, game engine, or robotics simulation rather than only using an existing one.
- Have personal or research-project experience with C++.
- Have depth in at least one relevant area, such as rendering/ray tracing, GPU programming, physically based materials/optics, lidar/radar signal processing, vehicle dynamics/controls, motion planning/agent behavior, real-time simulation architecture, 3D content pipelines, or ML for 3D.
- Have systematically verified a simulation or model’s correctness rather than relying only on visual inspection.
- Prior internship or production-level C++ experience is desirable.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated ray tracing or texturing is desirable.
Benefits
- Summer 2027 internship with hourly pay of $52.00 for bachelor’s-degree interns or $58.00 for master’s-degree interns.
