Responsibilities
- Design and implement cybersecurity controls for satellite software, ground systems, communication links, and mission infrastructure.
- Develop secure software practices through threat modeling, code reviews, vulnerability management, and security testing.
- Monitor mission networks and satellite systems, investigate cyber incidents, and coordinate containment and recovery.
- Own network security architecture, including firewall rules, IDS/IPS tuning, segmentation, and VPN infrastructure.
- Assess and remediate vulnerabilities in flight software, embedded systems, C2 interfaces, and satellite communication protocols.
- Administer and harden IAM systems, including SSO, conditional access, privilege reviews, and lifecycle automation.
- Develop SIEM monitoring, detection rules, and incident-response playbooks.
- Drive AWS cloud security posture management across IAM, S3, security groups, CloudTrail, and GuardDuty.
- Support CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 compliance, including SSP narratives, evidence collection, and assessments.
- Deliver security awareness training and phishing simulations; maintain DLP controls, policies, and documentation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in information security or security engineering roles.
- Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
- Experience securing aerospace or mission systems such as satellites, ground systems, embedded or flight software, or C2 interfaces.
- Familiarity with satellite communication protocols, embedded systems, and RF or space-ground link security.
- Experience with threat modeling, code review, security testing, and vulnerability management.
- Hands-on IAM administration with Okta or Azure AD and proficiency with AWS security services.
- Experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Sentinel, or Elastic for log analysis and detection engineering.
- Solid knowledge of firewalls, proxies, DNS security, network segmentation, and packet analysis.
- Familiarity with NIST 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting risks and technical findings to engineers and leadership.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, CEH, or AWS Security Specialty are preferred.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipeline security, ITAR/EAR environments, or U.S. Government, DoD, or national security space programs is preferred.
