Base Salary
$155k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build new backend services and APIs from scratch.
- Develop and operate distributed systems with scalability, latency, reliability, and fault-tolerance requirements.
- Make trade-offs across performance, consistency, and complexity.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code using Java and Python.
- Own services end-to-end from design and implementation through deployment and operation.
- Debug production issues and improve system resilience over time.
- Design stable, scalable, and performant read and write APIs.
- Work with event-driven systems, pub-sub patterns, caching, batch processing, data pipelines, logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python for backend application development.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with multi-threaded and event-driven systems, messaging or pub-sub systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, collections, memory usage, and time and space complexity.
- Knowledge of Spring Framework, dependency injection, AOP concepts, lifecycle management, and transaction management.
- Familiarity with databases, caching, connection pooling, resource management, and fault tolerance.
- Understanding of HTTP fundamentals, security fundamentals, authentication, authorization, encryption, logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Experience with unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, ownership, and design-reasoning skills.
- Practical understanding of batch processing and data pipeline technologies is a plus.
- Experience with BDD testing frameworks and tools is preferred.
- Comfort working in an open environment, globally distributed teams, and collaborating with business stakeholders.
