Base Salary
$120k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and APIs from scratch.
- Develop distributed systems with scalability, latency, reliability, and fault-tolerance requirements.
- Own services end-to-end across design, development, deployment, operation, debugging, and resilience improvements.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code using sound object-oriented design and design patterns.
- Work with event-driven systems, messaging and pub-sub architectures, caching, batch processing, data pipelines, and observability.
- Make trade-offs involving performance, consistency, complexity, and resource management.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams and business stakeholders while explaining and defending technical design decisions.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience building and operating production-grade services.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python for backend application development.
- Experience building scalable REST APIs and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with multithreaded and event-driven systems, messaging, pub-sub architectures, and fault tolerance.
- Knowledge of Spring Framework, dependency injection, AOP, transaction management, connection pooling, and resource management.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, HTTP fundamentals, and algorithmic complexity.
- Familiarity with databases, caching, batch processing, data pipelines, logging, monitoring, observability, and security fundamentals.
- Experience with unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, ownership, and collaborative working skills.
- Preferred experience with BDD testing frameworks and tools.
