Responsibilities

Own architecture and technical outcomes for one or more Genius POS platforms while contributing to convergence into a shared architecture ecosystem.
Design payment flows and integrations covering card-present, card-not-present, semi-integrated payments, P2PE, tokenization, surcharge/cash discount, and third-party commerce providers.
Design APIs, contracts, adapters, and provider-agnostic integration patterns that enable cross-platform interoperability and reuse.
Contribute to a unified integration platform covering partner onboarding, API management, authentication, schema translation, and shared services.
Design AI-enabled product features including chatbot orchestration, agentic workflows, MCP tooling, operator-facing assistants, and RAG-backed analytics.
Own security, scalability, observability, and compliance requirements and represent the POS domain in cross-functional architecture forums.
Participate in delivery ceremonies and roadmap planning, document technical decisions, resolve trade-offs, and mentor less-senior engineers.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 6 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years as a solution architect, lead engineer, or principal engineer.
Demonstrated experience designing and shipping payment integrations, including gateway integrations, semi-integrated payment flows, tokenization, or PCI-scoped architectures.
Hands-on experience building or operating cloud-native systems on AWS or Azure using microservices, event-driven architecture, and API design.
Strong REST and OpenAPI design skills, including OAuth 2.0 and API key lifecycle patterns.
Experience integrating third-party platforms and designing scalable adapters, SPIs, and provider-agnostic contracts.
Preferred experience includes POS or commerce platforms, payment gateway ecosystems, unified integration platforms, API gateways, developer portals, AI-enabled features, and work across SMB, mid-market, and enterprise environments.
Technical familiarity with backend languages, relational and NoSQL data systems, messaging, mobile commerce platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, foundation model APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, and MCP tooling.
Working knowledge of PCI DSS scope management, P2PE, tokenization, secure card data handling, and payment tender types including credit/debit, gift card, BNPL, ACH, and alternative payment methods.
