Base Salary
$120k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Collaborate deeply with exploration geologists and data scientists to tailor technology to exploration needs.
- Build data pipelines and tooling that derive human and machine insights from mineral exploration data.
- Develop expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understand their impact on exploration.
- Own projects end to end from design and implementation through testing and continued user engagement.
- Lead small groups of software engineers toward successful delivery when needed.
- Manage team services operationally and assist scientific colleagues with tooling.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems.
- Proficiency with Python and the ability to write correct, readable, well-tested, scalable, and extensible production code.
- Strong large-scale system design skills.
- Demonstrated ownership of defining problems and delivering impactful projects iteratively.
- Ability and willingness to learn mineral exploration and geology and work directly with geologists in the field.
- Ability to explain technical problems to and collaborate with non-developer domain experts.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working across the company.
- Comfort with a fast-growing early-stage company and an evolving range of responsibilities.
- Experience with React, geospatial data, map-based experiences, Docker, AWS ECS, or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Formal education or job exposure to natural sciences is a plus.
