Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and technical direction for enterprise deployments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, including customer-controlled environments.
- Build cloud-agnostic distributed systems and platform software used by multiple engineering teams.
- Design secure sandboxing and runtime environments for running untrusted code at scale.
- Set technical standards for networking, encryption, identity, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Build internal platform capabilities that help engineering teams ship faster.
- Write software, make architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and raise the engineering bar.
- Work directly with enterprise customers and cloud providers on complex infrastructure challenges.
Requirements
- Staff-level or equivalent software engineering scope with prior ownership of technical direction.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, or a comparable systems language such as C++ or Java.
- Experience building enterprise products and working with enterprise customers.
- Experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production for multiple teams.
- Experience building on Kubernetes or a similar orchestrator as a platform, rather than only deploying to it.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating production systems across more than one major cloud, with deep expertise in at least one.
- A product mindset focused on the people using the systems built.
- Deep experience in areas such as customer-controlled, BYOC, VPC, self-hosted, or air-gapped deployments; sandboxing and isolation; or enterprise identity, networking, and encryption.
- Experience operating at Staff, Principal, founding engineer, or CTO-level scope.
