Base Salary
$190k - $230k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement feedback, control, and actuation strategies using established and novel techniques.
- Architect, develop, and test reliable, redundant, safety-critical software controlling autonomous trucks.
- Characterize vehicle dynamics involving steering, braking, throttle, and engine management for motion planning, simulation, and controls.
- Develop solutions for redundant actuation, degraded operation, and fail-safe control.
- Collaborate with hardware, motion planning, and systems engineering teams on vehicle control architecture, requirements, test plans, documentation, and integration testing.
Requirements
- Strong background in robotics, controls, optimization, and mathematics, with an MS, PhD, or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing, testing, and tuning controllers for mobile autonomous robots, ideally trucks, cars, or flying vehicles.
- Experience with system identification, modeling, simulation, or characterization of systems with complex dynamics.
- Strong theoretical and practical experience in controls, system modeling, and/or redundant architectures.
- Focus on end-to-end vehicle safety.
- Production-level software development experience in C or C++.
- Preferred experience includes safety-critical software, low-level CAN or Ethernet drivers, resource-constrained embedded systems with a real-time operating system, formal verification, requirements and systems engineering processes, and Python, Matlab/Simulink, or related simulation and analysis tools.
