Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and architecture of GenAI and multimodal voice, text, and vision agent capabilities.
- Design stateful agent systems with intent handling, tool calling, dialog and device-state management, interruption handling, recovery, and deterministic interface contracts.
- Develop layered safety guardrails, model boundaries, evaluation metrics, test sets, and automated evaluation harnesses for stochastic AI systems.
- Develop, evaluate, integrate, and fine-tune ASR, TTS, SLM, and other speech and language models for domain-specific terminology.
- Optimize real-time speech and language systems for latency, memory, reliability, noisy environments, and on-device medical hardware constraints.
- Establish safety, bias, performance, traceability, logging, audit, and reproducibility practices supporting quality management and regulatory submissions.
- Set architecture and evaluation standards, mentor junior engineers, conduct design and code reviews, and align multiple technical and clinical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus 4 or more years of AI/ML engineering experience, or a master's degree in one of these fields plus 2 or more years of experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and optionally working proficiency in C++ or other languages for performance-critical and embedded integration work.
- Experience designing evaluation metrics, evaluation harnesses, and synthetic and human-generated test sets for stochastic AI systems.
- Experience applying statistical rigor to AI evaluation and validation, including acceptance criteria, confidence intervals, subgroup analysis, and robustness analysis.
- Experience building production systems around LLM function calling or tool use, including schema design, context management, and prompt or configuration versioning.
- Recent experience in NLP/LLM systems, speech processing such as ASR/TTS, or generative AI application development.
- Experience fine-tuning ASR or small language models, building real-time voice interfaces, and handling streaming audio, turn-taking, interruptions, and noisy environments.
- Technical leadership experience setting direction for significant systems or product areas and leading architecture across multiple teams.
- Experience deploying and optimizing models on edge devices under latency and memory constraints.
- Strong problem-solving, detail orientation, critical-thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills, plus general knowledge of the healthcare market.
