Responsibilities
- Develop sophisticated software with minimal supervision and take responsibility for product quality and maintainability.
- Design, build, document, and maintain JSON and REST services and integrations with third-party APIs.
- Contribute to system design sessions, advanced debugging, complex bug fixes, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Follow software development lifecycle processes, including peer reviews and release preparation.
- Partner with product and analytics teams to define requirements that address multiple stakeholders’ needs.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, onboard less experienced team members, and communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Identify risks, alternative solutions, roadblocks, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge bases, and engineering presentations.
- Potentially supervise others or lead small to moderate projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Java development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
- Experience with OS X, Linux, Spring, AWS, SQL, NoSQL, Git, distributed web applications, and container technologies such as Docker.
- Experience designing and building JSON or REST services, working with third-party APIs and AWS APIs, and applying functional testing practices.
- Extensive understanding of design patterns, object-oriented programming, RESTful API design, and API security.
- Intermediate proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, React Native, React, JavaScript, and Node.js.
- Extensive knowledge of the npm package and webpack lifecycle.
- Experience with iOS and Android development.
- Understanding of OWASP and experience working in Scrum and DevOps environments.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
